The Isle of Man Government is to publish detailed quarterly statistics on Freedom of Information (FoI) activity.
The Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance (OCSIA) will compile the quarterly, anonymised FoI statistics which will be published on the Information Commissioner's Office website.
The publication will provide a rolling 12‑month overview of FoI activity across Isle of Man Government departments, boards and offices, with figures updated every quarter.
By compiling and publishing this data, the Government and the ICO will aim to provide clearer insight into how freedom of information rights are being exercised and how public authorities are meeting their statutory responsibilities.
The ICO will also be offering a training session for the public sector on FoI handling, designed to support public authorities in improving their approach and building confidence in their responses.
Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Jane Poole-Wilson said:
‘The decision to publicise these statistics reflects our shared commitment to transparency, accountability, and strong information governance across the public sector.’
Information Commissioner Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya said:
‘When decisions and actions affect the public, it’s important that they’re open and accessible. Transparency fosters trust and is central to the public’s right to information.’
