A national two minute silence in remembrance of all those who have died in the service of their country will be observed in the Isle of Man at 11am on Remembrance Sunday, 9 November, and on Tuesday 11 November to commemorate Armistice Day.
The National Service of Remembrance will be held at the Royal Chapel of St John’s at 3pm on Remembrance Sunday. His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, the President of Tynwald, and Chief Minister Alfred Cannan MHK, will lay wreaths at the National War Memorial following the service.
Members of the public are invited to attend the service and are asked to be seated in the Church no later than 2.45pm.
Deputy Chief Minister Jane Poole-Wilson MHK will represent the Isle of Man in London on Remembrance Sunday to attend the UK National Service of Remembrance. Minister Poole-Wilson will lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall in the presence of His Majesty the King.
On Armistice Day, the Chief Minister will be accompanied by Ministers to lay a wreath on the ground floor of Central Government Offices at 9.30am. The House of Keys and Legislative Council will observe the Island’s two minute silence at 11am.
Isle of Man is represented at the opening of the Gardens of Remembrance at the Palace of Westminster in London
Earlier this week (Monday 3 November 2025) Mrs Diane Kelsey MLC, the Isle of Man Government’s Armed Forces Champion, represented the Island at the opening of the Gardens of Remembrance at the Palace of Westminster in London.
The annual ceremony, hosted by the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, was first held in 2021 to mark the centenary of Remembrance Day. The gardens, located in New Palace Yard, feature a remembrance plot for each constituency of the UK, the countries of the Commonwealth, the Crown Dependencies, and the British Overseas Territories.
80th Anniversary WWII Festival of Remembrance, Friday 14 November
A community concert and Drumhead Service will be held on Friday 14 November at 7pm at the Villa Marina to remember the 80th anniversaries of VE Day, VJ Day, and the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
The event is being organised on behalf of the Royal British Legion and will be similar to the VE Day event held in May, with a concert followed by a Drumhead Service. Music will be provided by a massed brass band, Ellan Vannin Pipe Band, Ramsey Grammar School Choir and Jenny Derbyshire will deliver a solo performance.
His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Chief Minister Jane Poole-Wilson MHK will attend and take part in the Drumhead Service.
Tickets are available at the Villa Marina box office and cost £5 for adults, free entry for children and students.
