The Office of Fair Trading is making the public aware of an important safety notice concerning plug adaptors shipped with Mac and certain iOS devices between 2003 and 2010, and that were also included in the Apple World Travel Adaptor Kit
Apple has become aware that in a very small number of cases, the adaptors may break and expose metal parts, creating a risk of electric shocks.
How to identify affected plugs
Affected plugs are white with no letters on the inside slot. Newer, unaffected versions are white with grey on the inside and have dimples on the side to aid removal.
What should I do if I have an affected plug?
Stop using the plug immediately. Consumers should visit https://www.apple.com/support/three-prong-ac-wall-plug-adapter/ to exchange for new adaptors.
Apple USB power adaptors are not affected.
