The Employment (Amendment) Bill 2025 will be introduced to the House of Keys in December 2025

If the Employment (Amendment) Bill 2025 completes its progress through the Legislative Branches of Tynwald, it is not expected that the provisions in the Bill will come into effect any earlier than April 2027.

Shared Parental Leave

The Shared Parental Leave Regulations 2025 introduced a right for mothers and fathers to opt to share 50 weeks of shared parental leave instead of a mother taking maternity leave.

The new right came into effect for children born on or after 1 November 2025.

Parental Bereavement Leave

The Parental Bereavement Leave Regulations 2025 introduced a right for employees to up to two weeks' leave if their child dies or is stillborn. Prospective parents who suffer a miscarriage are entitled to one week's leave.

Employment (Amendment) Act 2024

The Employment (Amendment) Bill 2023 was introduced to the House of Keys in June 2023 and obtained Royal Assent in October 2024.

The Bill made changes to the framework for whistleblowing in the Isle of Man and introduced new family leave rights and a requirement for an employer to provide a written statement of terms and conditions of employment on day one of employment.

The provisions of the Act came into force on 1 April 2025, with the exception of shared parental leave and parental leave which came into force on 1 November 2025.
