Public Appointments

Applications are sought for the positions of both a Chair of the Board of Directors and a Board Member of Laxey Glen Mills Limited. 

Laxey Glen Mills Limited is owned by the Isle of Man Government although managed by an independent board of directors. 

The company manufactures high quality flour from milling wheat grown by local farmers. Most of the output is sold to local bakeries for the production of bread and other baked products for local consumers. Flour is also sold to local retailers and there is a limited export market. The milling process also produces animal feed wheat, all of which is sold to local farmers. 

Vacancies have arisen for the positions of Chair of the Board, as well as a Board Member to assist the future development of the company. 

Candidates for either role will ideally have a management or business background preferable at Director level with financial and marketing experience; and knowledge of agriculture and cereals.  Candidates aspiring to the role of Chair will need to demonstrate a strong pedigree of leadership at Board level, a clear understanding of the strategic issues facing the company at this time and in to the future and the potential responses to these. 

After reviewing the skills and experience required to serve as either Chair or Board Member of Laxey Glen Mills Limited, interested persons are invited to submit a completed application form, clearly stating the role being applied for, along with an up-to-date curriculum vitae and a brief summary of the candidate’s understanding of the issues facing the Company and how these may be addressed.
