LAXEY GLEN MILLS

APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT

Treasury is seeking applications for the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Laxey Glen Mills Limited.

Laxey Glen Mills Limited is owned by the Isle of Man Government although managed by an independent board of directors.

The company manufactures high quality flour from milling wheat grown by local farmers. Most of the output is sold to local bakeries for the production of bread and other baked products for local consumers. Flour is also sold to local retailers and there is a limited export market. The milling process also produces animal feed wheat, all of which is sold to local farmers. 

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Chairman of the Board, to lead the future development of the company. Candidates will ideally have a management background with financial and marketing experience; and knowledge of agriculture and cereals.

After reviewing the skills and experience required to serve on the board of Laxey Glen Mills Limited, interested persons are invited to submit a completed application form and an up-to-date curriculum vitae and a brief summary of the candidate’s understanding of the issues facing the company and how these may be addressed.

All applications received will be assessed against the required criteria by a selection panel. Short-listed applicants will be invited to attend an interview. It is anticipated that interviews will be held shortly after short-listing.

Gambling Supervision Commission

Application for Appointment

The Treasury is seeking applications for appointment to the Gambling Supervision Commission. The Commission is constituted under the Gambling Supervision Act 2010 and is established to:-

Licence and supervise most forms of Gambling in the Isle of Man.
Investigate the character and financial status of any person applying for or holding a gambling licence issued under its remit.
Ensure that all fees, duty and other monies payable to the Treasury are duly accounted for.
Ensure that gambling is conducted honestly and fairly, remains free from criminal influence and exploitation and does not cause harm to the public interest, individuals and families.
In accordance with the Gambling Supervision Act 2010, the Treasury is looking for a member who is a qualified Advocate, Barrister or Solicitor of at least five year' s standing. In addition experience of online business and experience of gambling business, would also be desirable to assist the Commission in the exercise of its statutory functions.
