Our Island Plan

Isle of Man Government continues to monitor international developments

Friday, 24 April 2026

The Isle of Man Government welcomes the news that the ceasefire in the Middle East appears to have been extended indefinitely and hopes this progress will provide greater stability and space for continued diplomatic efforts.

The Government however recognises that the situation remains fragile and that global events can continue to have wider economic impacts. Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the conflict, including those with family, cultural or economic ties to the region, and civilians facing ongoing insecurity and humanitarian need.

The Isle of Man Government continues to closely monitor international developments in coordination with partners in the UK, and to assess implications for the Island.

Government officials are liaising with industry and charity representatives to inform the potential actions Ministers may take. As the Treasury Minister said in Tynwald on Tuesday, ‘If intervention is required, responses will be precise, targeted and evidence based, aligned with broader economic and anti-poverty strategies. Effectiveness and fiscal responsibility remain critical, given the long-term uncertainties we face and the importance of maintaining a sustainable public purse.’

We want to reassure the public again that there are no issues at this time with fuel supplies to the Island. Petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and home heating oil continue to be delivered as normal, and local suppliers remain confident in supply arrangements. While global energy markets remain volatile, there is no disruption to availability on the Isle of Man.

Further updates will continue to be provided through established channels, including Tynwald where appropriate.
