Towed caravan permit scheme

Any person wishing to bring a caravan onto the Island must have a permit authorising them to tow it on roads under the towed caravan permit scheme. This scheme applies to both visitors and residents, with the criteria for each set out below.

Visitors

In order to obtain a permit, the following criteria applies.

You must:

  • have a return ferry booking for the caravan within 12 weeks of arrival (evidence will be required) and

  • be staying at an approved campsite whilst on the Island

Residents

You are unable to import a caravan onto the Island on a permanent basis. 

If you own a caravan that is already based on the Island, you may leave and return with it to enable a period of travel elsewhere. Under these circumstances, a caravan may also be replaced whilst you are off-Island.

  • evidence of your ferry booking / travel arrangements and

  • the location your caravan will be based whilst on the Island (if applicable)
