Update on Services at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital (RDCH)

Thursday, 7 May 2026

Services will begin to return to Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital (RDCH) in mid-May, in line with the revised timeline publicised last month.

Manx Care continues to work closely with the Department of Infrastructure and is pleased to confirm that a number of services will return to the facility ahead of the TT period, helping local people access care closer to home. Some services will be delivered from temporary buildings on the site while estates work continues.

The Minor Injuries Unit is planned to reopen on 21 May 2026 from the main RDCH hospital site. During TT and racing periods, the service is planned to operate seven days a week.

Plain film X‑ray services and ultrasound will also recommence on 21 May 2026 as will the DEXA bone density service, with additional sessions scheduled.

A number of services have continued to operate at RDCH, including dermatology, phlebotomy and a reduced outpatient service. Other services such as wound management, renal services and rehabilitation and reablement will continue to be provided through temporary or alternative arrangements while work progresses.

Plans to return dental services to the north are progressing and a further update will be issued once details have been confirmed.

Patient transport arrangements remain in place to support those who need to travel for care.

Manx Care is also planning to attend a public drop‑in engagement session, providing an opportunity for members of the public to hear more about the work underway and ask questions.

Updates will be shared as work continues over the coming weeks.
