Robin Bischert

The Department of Economic Development is hosting this year’s free Visitor Economy Networking Day at the Villa Marina on Wednesday 25th March 2015.

The free event is an opportunity for anyone involved in the Island’s Visitor Economy, within sectors such as tourism, hospitality and retail, to find out what is happening over the coming year and to gain a deeper insight into the Island’s tourism industry.

The event includes presentations from the Director of Tourism, Robin Bischert, and the agencies responsible for the Island’s tourism advertising and PR, as well as the findings of the latest market research.

David Cretney MHK, the Department’s political Member with responsibility for Tourism, commented:

‘This is an ideal opportunity to hear about important issues relating to our Visitor Economy and to network with individuals working in the sector.  We want to encourage better working relationships between different aspects of the industry and further engagement with Government to ensure that we maintain the increase in leisure visitors.’

There are six speaker sessions during the day, with the option to register for all or choose a selection. The speakers have been carefully chosen to provide guidance on important topics such as the National Accessible Scheme as well as provide tips and advice on how to best promote local attractions, accommodation and activities.

There are also business development briefings from local tourism businesses including Adventurous Experiences and Knockaloe Beg Farm.
