New website will provide public updates on Government performance

Friday, 12 July 2013

The Isle of Man Government’s progress towards achieving its national priorities is being highlighted through a new website.

The performance management hub has been launched as part of the Chief Minister’s focus on delivering change and his commitment to greater transparency and accountability.

It continues the work being undertaken in relation to the key goals of Mr Bell’s administration – stimulating economic growth, rebalancing Government finances and protecting the vulnerable.

The website sets out what Government intends to deliver over the next three years and will enable the public to monitor the progress of objectives included in the Agenda for Change document, focusing on the 5 policy themes of:

  • Our Economy
  • Environment and Infrastructure
  • Good Government
  • Income and Expenditure
  • Welfare Reform and Wellbeing

The website will be updated quarterly to provide a snapshot of Government’s performance, including targets that have been achieved and areas where more needs to be done. The first quarterly update will be available by the end of July.

The Chief Minister said:

‘Agenda for Change represents the most fundamental reform of Government’s relationship with our community for at least 25 years. It is imperative that the Isle of Man’s financial and economic position is sustainable in the long term, and that we ensure publicly funded services are efficient and resources are targeted more effectively.’

He added:

‘Significant change is required in order to achieve our priorities and it is essential that the public can see what Government is working towards and whether we are meeting our targets. This new website is an important part of my promise to promote open Government and to work with the public in the best interests of the Isle of Man. It will allow us to clarify our priorities to 2016 and inform people about how we are progressing via quarterly public updates.’

The performance management website will help to coordinate the delivery of Government’s Agenda for Change objectives. It will be subject to further development as priorities evolve over time.

Information, including details relating to benchmarking and trends, will build up over time to provide a fuller picture of how Government is performing against its targets.

The Chief Minister commented:

‘It is vitally important for us all to work together to deliver the sustainable and cohesive future our nation deserves. We are embarking on a period of major change and this new website will help to inform people of our direction of travel and how Government is performing.’
