Free fire safety visits

We can now offer the option for you to conduct your own home fire safety check.

This easy-to-follow home fire safety check has been developed through a partnership between the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), Fire Kills and Safelincs. It will take you through your home one room at a time and the simple questions will help you spot fire risks as you go around your home.

The tool will offer tips and advice on the steps you can take to reduce those risks. At the end, you will receive a personalised fire safety action plan to help keep you and your household safe from fire. You can find the online home fire safrty check through the safelincs website.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is offering you the opportunity to have a free fire safety visit at your home, carried out by firefighters from your local fire station.

  • Visits are by appointment only
  • All appointments will be pre-arranged with you
  • The firefighters calling will always be in uniform and show their ID card

The assessment will look at all areas of fire risk together with providing some simple accident prevention information. We will give advice on how to stay safe from fire, including the maintenance of your smoke alarm, the dangers of kitchen hazards, candles, heaters, electric blankets, and the making of an escape plan.

This free service is available to friends and family, indeed any other members of your community for whom you may have concerns.

To arrange your appointment call us on +44 1624 647300 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
