More than 300 works from the Isle of Man Modern and Contemporary Art Loan Collection are now available to view online for the first time, making the collection accessible to audiences across the Island and beyond.
The free digital archive is available and allows users to explore artworks by internationally recognised artists including Dame Tracey Emin, Josef Albers, Patrick Caulfield, David Hockney, Dame Paula Rego, Sir Antony Gormley and Sarah Maple. The collection was established over thirty years ago by David Fletcher and Eileen Schaer to make high quality contemporary art available in public spaces across the Island.
Each artwork has been professionally photographed in high resolution by local photographer Carola Rush. An interactive map also shows where artworks are currently displayed, helping the public see the reach of the collection in everyday spaces such as offices, schools and community buildings.
The digital archive supports both public access and the ongoing care and management of the collection, including conservation and accurate record keeping. More works will be added as the archive continues to grow.

‘The collection has grown over the years, and for the first time, an online digital archive will not only allow us to track and care for the artworks more effectively, but it will also give the public a chance to see the scope of the collection. Whether you're an artist, collector, or just someone who appreciates art, this resource will be invaluable.’
A number of works from the collection are currently on display in Art Adventures for Beginners, a free exhibition at the House of Manannan in Peel, which has been extended until 7 June 2026.
