Sanctions Measures - Somalia, Ivory Coast, Burma/Myanmar

The Treasury wishes to make individuals and businesses in the Island aware of the coming into operation of a number of orders and regulations concerned with sanctions measures in respect of:

SOMALIA

Applying in Island law, and implementing, Council Regulation (EU) No. 641/2012 and Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 147/2003 (as amended). These update the financial sanctions, arms embargo and the prohibition on the provision of technical and financial assistance and training relating to military activities relating to Somalia.

IVORY COAST

Applying in Island law, and implementing, various EU instruments, up to and including Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 193/2012 concerned with financial sanctions; and a number of EU instruments, up to and including Council Regulation (EU) No. 617/2012, related to the restriction on the supply of military assistance to Ivory Coast.

BURMA /MYANMAR

The European Union (Burma-Myanmar Sanctions) (Suspension) Order 2012 and the Burma-Myanmar Sanctions (Suspension) Regulations 2012 have the effect of suspending, until 30th April 2013, most of the sanctions measures imposed in respect of Burma/Myanmar in recognition of certain positive developments in that country. However, note that an arms embargo continues in place.
