Court Office and public counter
The opening hours for the Court Office and public counter are:-
- 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday; and
- 9:30am to 4:00pm on Friday
The Court Office and public counter is a central ‘one stop shop’ providing facilities which include:-
- payment of court imposed financial penalties;
- payment of fixed penalty fines (road traffic/litter/dogs etc);
- probate matters;
- filing of a range of court documents and payment of associated filing fees;
- document legalisation services;
- maintenance (alimony) payments;
- Commissioner for Oaths services;
- supply of application forms and information packs (also available here on the website);
- basic assistance in understanding the forms and guidance materials available;
- viewing of certain official registers and documents available to the public;
- face-to-face customer service support.
A small charge may be made for the provision for certain of the above services. For more information please refer to the Fees page.
Visitors to the Court Office and public counter are required to go through security screening on entry to the courthouse.
The Court Office and public counter also provide a telephone payment service through a dedicated payments line - Tel: +44 (0) 1624 686423. During busy periods in the court office, customers using this telephone payments service may be asked to leave a voice mail message requesting a call back to enable a telephone payment to take place.
Callers should have their debit/credit card details and details of the fixed penalty or fine reference available, but should not leave these details on the voicemail message system.
