Road fuel monitoring
The Competition and Markets Section monitors the prices of road fuel (petrol and diesel) sold by Isle of Man retailers, and compares these with retail prices in the UK. Road fuel prices in the Isle of Man are typically higher than in the UK, partly due to the additional costs of importing the fuel to the Island, and the small size of the Island market reducing the potential for economies of scale.
There was one formal investigation into fuel prices on the Isle of Man in 2010, with a further review published in 2014. This was updated in 2017.
