Education Council
The Education Council sits as an advisory body to the Department of Education, Sport and Culture.
The current Education Council came into existence in March 2022.
Some of the key responsibilities of the Education Council are:
- Discuss and advise the Department on any matter of educational policy
- Discuss and inform the Department of its views concerning the needs of the statutory system of public education
- Receive and consider any reports submitted to it by the Department
Members will sit on 1 of the secondary school and 3 or 4 primary school Governing Bodies and may also contribute to other bodies such as:
- Governing Body of University College Isle of Man
- The Religious Education Advisory Committee
- St Mary's Roman Catholic School Governors
- St Thomas' Church of England School Governors
