Outbreaks of rain or sleet, falling as snow over high ground, gradually petering out by the end of the night with wintry showers then largely being confined to southern parts. Strong northwest wind and a minimum temperature around 2°C.
Further wintry showers to start tomorrow, mainly in the south, with the risk of ice elsewhere largely for upland roads. Otherwise sunny spells develop but still remaining cold with best temperatures only up to 5°C, but feeling colder in the strong north-northwest wind.
Outlook
Mainly dry with sunny spells on Saturday with the wintry showers likely staying largely offshore to the west of the island. Fresh to strong north or northwest wind and staying cold.
Risk of wintry showers returning on Sunday as the northerly winds become more north-westerly.
