The review of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007 – Preliminary PublicityThe Isle of Man Strategic Plan Review 2013

The current approved Strategic Plan 2007 contains figures derived from the 2001 and 2006 Censuses. These figures were used to calculate the broad housing needs for the Island up to 2016. The 2011 Census now presents the opportunity to update the housing figures. This review is necessary to enable the remaining Area Plans, starting with the Area Plan for the East, to proceed.

The Department is seeking views on its proposal to undertake a focussed Review of the Strategic Plan. A Response Form has been produced which is available to complete online (see useful links) or can be printed off, completed by hand and posted back to the Planning Office.

A public consultation event at the Sea Terminal, Douglas has been scheduled for 7th January 2014. This will be staffed from 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm. Consultation material will be displayed in the reception area of the Planning Office, Murray House, from 8th January 2014 to 17 January 2014.

Update to the Lower Douglas Master PlanProposed Update to the Lower Douglas Master Plan relating to Lord Street – September 2013

We live in rapidly changing times, following a number of changes to the situation of the Lord Street site. The Department is consulting on a number of minor updates to the ‘Lower Douglas Master Plan – Interim Planning Guidance for Key Town Centre Sites in Douglas’ which was originally published in October 2012.

Currently Lord Street is the location of a number of bus stops which provide opportunities for bus transfer connections as well as serving the needs of users of the town centre. Therefore the consultation is also seeking views about: When considering the redevelopment of the Lord Street site should consideration be given to incorporating appropriate bus interchange facilities to serve the needs of Central Douglas?

This consultation begins on 16th September 2013, lasting for 6 weeks and will close on 28th October 2013. We would encourage the submission of clear and concise responses via the online questionnaire.
