The Department of Home Affairs has welcomed the Chief Constable’s Annual Report for 2025/26 and will move for the report to be received at the July sitting of Tynwald.
The Report provides details on performance and activity across all areas of policing. It demonstrates broadly positive trends and activity across the strategic objectives and measures outlined in the Policing Plan 2025/26 and the Department Plan 2025/26, despite the operational pressures caused by several serious and unprecedented incidents.
Importantly, the Island has a lower rate of harm for offences when compared to the latest figures for England and Wales. While the Island’s rate has increased from last year, the comparison still demonstrates that the Isle of Man continues to be a safe place in which to live and work and to visit.
The report outlines the Constabulary’s progress and performance in key areas, including addressing financial crime and preparing for the forthcoming MONEYVAL evaluation, safeguarding the most vulnerable members of our community, enhanced arrangements to secure our entry points, strengthening the Island’s ability to detect and deter cross-border criminality and organised crime, focus on early intervention and prevention work to reduce offending and reoffending, particularly for juveniles, focus on domestic abuse and sexual offences and many more.
Many of these areas demonstrate the value of partnership working and a preventative approach to policing.
The Department recognises the pressures highlighted in the report, including sustained demand, workforce challenges and financial constraints. The Department will continue to work closely with the Chief Constable and wider Government to seek to address these issues and ensure the long-term resilience of policing services.

Our continued focus and investment in safeguarding, early intervention and specialist capability is making a real difference, and I am grateful to everyone involved for their commitment to protecting our Island.
