The Treasury advises that on 13 October 2025 the UK Government announced that the OFSI Consolidated List of Asset Freeze Targets will be closing. From Wednesday 28 January 2026 the UK sanctions List will be the only source for all UK sanctions designations.
UK designations are currently detailed in 2 lists, the UK Sanctions List and the Consolidated List of Asset Freeze targets. The UK Government has determined that a single list will remove duplication of effort and simplify checks of who is subject to UK sanctions.
Responsibilities for sanctions compliance
To support businesses and industry in preparing for the transition, The Treasury encourages all institutions to review the external guidance published by the UK Government, Moving to a single list for UK sanctions designations which details:
- Steps organisations should take to update their compliance systems
- How to manage identifiers and reporting obligations post-transition
