The Treasury advises that minor legislative amendments to the Export Control Order 2008 (Application) Order 2024 have come into operation.
The Export Control Order 2008 (Application) Order 2009 is amended to streamline the application of Schedules 1 to 4 of the applied legislation so that when those Schedules to the Export Control Order 2008 are amended in the United Kingdom, the amendments will have automatic effect in the Island from time to time. This ensures that the goods, software and technology subject to export controls are kept in line with those in the United Kingdom without any risk of there being a legislative gap.
The Export Control (Application) (Amendment) Order 2024 [SD 2024/0259] applies a United Kingdom Statutory Instrument to the Island (the Export Control Order 2008) which implements controls on the export of certain goods from the Island such as military goods, software and technology and items with dual use (i.e. those can be used for both civilian and military purposes).
Under the terms of the Customs and Excise Agreement 1979, the Isle of Man is required to keep the rules and procedures in relation to export control in line with those in place in the United Kingdom.
