Statement from Department of Education, Sport and Culture

Friday, 8 January 2021

Since the announcement by the British Government that most summer exams would be cancelled, the Department for Education, Sport and Culture has been in regular contact with the European Regional Director at Cambridge International regarding the future of IGCSE and I A-levels, which many of our students sit.

Whilst Cambridge International has indicated that they were still committed to running exams in Summer 2021, as planned, they have said they are open to further feedback from head teachers on the Isle of Man.The Department has contacted all our head teachers regarding their views on the possible sitting of physical exams for some subjects this summer.

All arrangements are subject to change, especially given the deteriorating healthcare situation in the UK, but the education service remains committed that none of our students are placed at disadvantage by the way their grades will be assessed this summer.
