Two new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Isle of Man. Neither case is in the community. The individuals will now be required to self-isolate for 14 days following a positive test.
The cases are unrelated and both individuals have followed the rules and complied with all of the instructions issued to them on their return.
The contact tracing team are identifying and speaking with anyone who may have come into close contact with these individuals.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK said:
‘Cases such as this are to be expected and are precisely why we have robust processes and procedures in place. I would like to reassure the public that the cases are contained and the risk remains extremely low.
‘This demonstrates the strength of our procedures however, we cannot be complacent and we are continuing to closely monitor the situation. Anyone returning from areas where COVID-19 is still circulating (including the UK) must be responsible to protect our community.
‘I urge the Manx public to continue to do the basics well as they have done throughout the pandemic. If you have symptoms you must self-isolate immediately and call 111 to arrange a test. If we cough or sneeze it should be into a tissue or our elbow, we should continue to wash our hands regularly and remain vigilant.’
