Discounted travel for students attending the Isle of Man Graduate Fair 2020

Tuesday, 10 March 2020

Locate Isle of Man, an initiative from the Department for Enterprise, has launched an offer in collaboration with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company to encourage students to return to the Isle of Man and attend the 2020 Isle of Man Graduate Fair event.

The discount entitles returning students to claim a £10 return fare by ferry when travelling as a foot passenger on the Steam Packet ferries between the dates which correspond with the Graduate Fair. Students claiming the discounted fare will be asked to show their valid Student ID at check-in.

This offer is valid for travel to the Isle of Man between 20 March and 16 April 2020, and for return travel from the Isle of Man on either the 18 or 19 April 2020. More information on how to book this special student discount.

The 2020 Isle of Man Graduate Fair takes place on April 17 at the Villa Marina between 12.30pm and 7pm. It is free to attend and suitable for anyone studying at school, degree or postgraduate level in the Isle of Man, UK or further afield, as well as recent graduates and young professionals looking to build their on-island network or anyone looking to find out more about employment in the Isle of Man.

Minister for Enterprise, Laurence Skelly MHK, commented:

‘We have worked in partnership with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company to offer this discount to students who are currently studying in the UK but are interested in learning about the career opportunities available for graduates in the Isle of Man.

‘The Isle of Man Graduate Fair provides an opportunity for students and graduates to find out more about the Island’s economic offering, demonstrating that the Isle of Man offers residents more than just a safe and secure jurisdiction with an excellent quality of life, it is also a rewarding place to launch their careers.’

The Isle of Man Graduate Fair will encompass over 30 organisation exhibitors who are available to talk to students about the career opportunities available to them as well as providing practical guidance for those who may be interested in launching their own business. Delegates will also have access to a full afternoon of content, valuable upskilling workshops and a keynote speech from 2017 winner of BBC’s The Apprentice, James White, who will be speaking on his career success, coming back from adversity and what it is like to go into business with a major investor.

The graduate fair is being hosted by Locate Isle of Man, an initiative from the Department for Enterprise, which promotes the Isle of Man as a place to live, work and do business.
