Deadline approaching for responses to private landlord register and minimum standards consultation

Landlord consultation - exchange of keysThere is still time for people to submit their views on proposals aimed at bringing forward legislation making it mandatory for private landlords to register themselves and their property.

When enacted, the Bill will assist in ensuring that Island residents have access to a better standard of private rental accommodation. Minimum management and property standards will also be established, for the benefit of both landlord and tenant.

Public feedback will be considered by the Department before the Bill is finalised and taken to Tynwald.

Responses can be submitted using the Government consultation hub or alternatively, written comments can be emailed to landlordregistration@gov.im or by post to Public Estates and Housing Division, Department of Infrastructure, 1st Floor, Sea Terminal, Douglas, IM1 2RF.

The deadline for responses is 5pm on Monday 27 July 2020
