Festival of Motoring 2020

Visit Isle of Man, an Executive Agency within the Department for Enterprise, has worked with local accommodation providers and Scenic Car Tours, the UK’s leading tour operator for driving enthusiasts, to create a new holiday package to celebrate the Island’s motorsport heritage.

The new event will take place over 18 to 20 September 2020 and will see visiting motorsport enthusiasts from around Europe visit the Island for an array of festival events and unique driving experiences, including an optional Gala Dinner on the Saturday evening.

Rob Callister MHK, Political Member with responsibility for tourism and motorsport, commented:

‘Operating in a highly competitive market, Visit Isle of Man have been working hard to establish new partnerships with UK travel providers in order to attract more visitors to the Isle of Man. Scenic Car Tours have been a fantastic partner to work with, bringing years of experience and a vast network of potential customers to market to. This exciting new motorsport event will make the most of our Island’s enviable motorsport heritage as well as extend the visitor season into the autumn months.’

Angela Byrne, Head of Visit Isle of Man, added:

‘Visiting motorsport groups are an integral part of Visit Isle of Man’s marketing strategy to reach specialist interest groups and diversify the range of visitors to the Island.

‘Events and festivals create fantastic opportunities to raise the profile of the Isle of Man with new markets and position the Island more strongly in the UK.  We are in an enviable position due to our Motorsport heritage and this event will give visitors and locals alike a chance to experience the Island’s unique motorsport attractions and activities within a concise and exhilarating package.’

Bob Cole, Sales and Product Director, Scenic Car Tours, commented:

‘Following the launch of this new event at the ‘Passion for Power’ Classic Car Show at Tatton Park, Cheshire this summer, we are delighted to confirm that we have already taken bookings for over 240 cars! Bearing in mind this event doesn't take place until September 2020, this is a staggering take-up and we are now expecting bookings for the event to well-exceed over 300 cars.

‘We are really looking forward to playing our part in this exciting, inaugural event and are confident that it will quickly become a firm fixture on the Isle of Man’s calendar of events for many years to come.’

The event runs from 18 to 20 September 2020. Isle of Man residents can also take part in the festival. Package & Ticket information is available here: http://www.sceniccartours.com/iom-fest-motoring/4594646900
