Crucial Crew community project to teach children important life skills

A community project that teaches important life skills to children is gearing up for its 27th year.

Between 17-21 June the Crucial Crew project will teach various aspects of personal wellbeing including road safety, first aid, online security and safety in the home to children who are about the make the move to secondary school.

A number of fun and interactive workshops, demonstrations, performances and presentations will be delivered at University College Isle of Man by St John Ambulance, the Isle of Man Constabulary, Fire and Rescue Service, Coastguard, Civil Defence, Manx Utilities, Manx Gas, Schools Nursing, Bus Vannin and Manx Telecom.

The project will focus on explaining to how to respond to emergency situations, including when to dial 999.

The joined up approach by local organisations across the week aims to provide potentially life-saving information that will be helpful to the students taking part for the rest of their lives. Since the first Crucial Crew, over 20,000 children have been through the project.
