The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is making the public aware of a safety notice which has been issued in relation to the iconBIT Mekotron 6 Hoverboard HB-0060 sold at Currys.
There is a potential safety issue due to a manufacturing defect with some power supply units supplied with this hoverboard.
In some instances, the plastic earth pin on the power supply unit is longer than the maximum allowed under the British Standard for plugs. There is a risk that the use of the power supply unit can result in damage to the mains socket or to the power supply itself, which in turn could cause a fire.
Products affected:
The issue only affects the iconBIT Mekotron 6 Hoverboard HB-0060 sold between September 2018 and January 2019 in Currys stores and on their website. All other iconBIT hoverboards sold by Currys are unaffected.
What to do:
If you have purchased an iconBIT Mekotron 6 hoverboard with the above power supply unit then you should stop using the product immediately and return it to your local Currys store where a full refund of the purchase price will be given.
