Safety Notice: Important notice regarding Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines

Monday, 23 December 2019

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is making the public aware of an important notice issued by Whirlpool in relation to specific models of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines manufactured between October 2014 and February 2018.

In some rare cases, a fault can develop with the door lock, which results in it overheating and posing a fire risk.

Owners of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines bought since October 2014 will need to find the model and serial number of their appliance. This can be found inside the door or on the back of the machine.

Owners should then visit Whirlpool's Washing Machine Recall page to find out whether their washing machine is affected and, if so, register for a replacement or repair.

Alternatively, there is a free Whirlpool helpline that you can call on 0800 316 1442. Be aware that both of these contact points will be very busy, initially.

If you do not have access to a computer, you can contact the OFT directly if you think that you may have purchased one of the washing machines affected.

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading say consumers with an affected machine should stop using it immediately, unplug it and register with Whirlpool for a replacement machine or repair.
