Apply now to get involved in health and social care review workshops

Monday, 17 September 2018

Workshops aiming to inform the independent review into the Island’s health and social care system will begin next week.

Residents of all ages and backgrounds are being encouraged to sign up to attend one of the sessions to and help shape the future of health and social care in the Isle of Man.

The team supporting the review is eager to gather the views of a wide range of people, and talk to them again as the review progresses.

The workshops will be held at the Keyll Darree Training Centre at Noble’s Hospital on:

•        Friday 21 September, 9.30am to 11.30am

•        Friday 21 September, 12.30pm to 2.30pm

•        Thursday 11 October, 7pm to 9pm

The workshops will build on the initial online public consultation, which took place between 26 June and 7 August, to ensure that the public’s views are fully understood and considered throughout the course of the review.

Sir Jonathan Michael is leading the 12-month Independent Review and the team is supporting his work to address the current and long-term healthcare challenges facing the Isle of Man.

Sir Jonathan said:

‘The workshops will play a vital part in creating a comprehensive picture of healthcare provision in the Island and I look forward to many people from all walks of life making important contributions.

‘The sessions are designed to provide a platform where residents can tell us what is and isn’t working for the Island, and to help inform how the Island’s current and long-term health and social care needs can be met.’

An interim report will be submitted to Tynwald in January 2019, with the final report presented for discussion at the May 2019 sitting.
