Majority of bus fares remain unchanged

Friday, 12 January 2018

The majority of bus vannin fares have been frozen for the fifth successive year.

The only fares to rise will be:

  • School/College journeys using Go Cards SCH1,SCH2 and SCH3 will increase by 5p to 30p per journey
  • 5 Day Go Explore Heritage card will increase to £63 for adults and £30 for children. In addition to unlimited travel on buses, trams and trains and entry to all Manx National Heritage sites from 2018, these tickets will also be valid on Groudle Glen and great Laxey Mines Railways, as well as entry to Milntown House in Ramsey

Jason Moorhouse, Department of Infrastructure Member with responsibility for the Transport Services Division, said:

“It is great to see another fare freeze for 2018, which means we have not seen a full fare increase on our buses since April 2013.

However, the already heavily subsidised school fares will increase slightly by 5p per journey, while the Go Explore Heritage card will increase in line with Manx National Heritage increases. I hope the Island’s residents and visitors see the great value for money our Island’s transport service provides.”

The fare increases will come into effect from the 15 January 2018.
