Agriculture and Fisheries Grant Scheme Open Day

Thursday, 20 December 2018

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is holding an Open Day to discuss financial support available to local businesses through the Agriculture and Fisheries Grant Scheme 2016.

Forming part of the DEFA Food Matters Strategy, which aims to grow the value of the industry by £50 million by 2025, the scheme is designed to aid development within the Isle of Man's farming, fisheries and food production by supporting commercial businesses in making investments to improve the sustainability of their business.

Geoffrey Boot MHK, Minister for the Department of Food, Environment and Agriculture, said:

'The Open Day is a valuable opportunity for business owners looking to find out more about improving their sustainability through the Agriculture and Fisheries Grant Scheme. The scheme aims to assist the many businesses who may be eligible in a variety of areas, enabling them to make improvements that could significantly benefit their production.'

Members of the Fisheries and Food teams will be available to discuss how the scheme can support sustainable fishing, safety at sea, diversification of a business, local food promotion within the hospitality and retail sectors, and marketing.

This drop-in session will take place between 9am to 5pm at The Food Hub in Peel on Tuesday 15 January 2019. It is available to local businesses seeking further information about the opportunities available through this scheme.

Interested parties should contact food@gov.im by Friday 4 January 2018.
