European Union (Lebanon Sanctions) Order 2018 and Lebanon Sanctions Regulations 2018

Wednesday, 1 August 2018

This news release is issued in respect of the restrictive measures directed against Lebanon.

The Island has measures in place with regard to the Lebanon, given effect in the Island by means of the Lebanon and Syria (United Nations Measures) (Isle of Man) Order 2006 and which is a UK Statutory Instrument.  It is now considered important that the Island applies the EC Regulation in relation to the Lebanon in order to bring into line the list of EU Regulations relating to financial sanctions which the Island has applied with that contained in the Schedule to the UK’s United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) Regulations 2017.

On 1 August 2018, the European Union (Lebanon Sanctions) Order 2018 came into operation, applying Council Regulation (EC) 305/2006, to the Island. The Lebanon Sanctions Regulations 2018, which provides for penalties and offences in breach of the EC Regulation, and issue of licences by the Treasury, also came into operation on the same day.

A revised edition of Sanctions Notice 18 will be published shortly.
