Ballaugh cycle shelter

Ballaugh Primary School is celebrating a new addition to its grounds, in the form of an impressive pinewood bike shed and shelter.

The shed was built by Ardwhallan Outdoor Education Centre with assistance from the children of the village during the summer holiday.

The money for the project and the resulting piece of equipment was raised by the Friends of Ballaugh School and their supporters at their last Mhelliah. The event raised £1592, the majority of which was used to pay for the bike shed.

Chairperson of the Friends of Ballaugh School, Lisa Creighton, commented:

'We want to thank everyone who supported our school and attended our last Mhelliah. The money raised has allowed us to provide a facility that will encourage local children to cycle to school as part of a more active lifestyle. And we were lucky enough to have the wonderful team at Ardwhallan build this structure for us, and involve the children in the project, which makes it all the more meaningful.'
