Pupils from Years 5 and 6 at Jurby Community School took part in the recent “Come and Play” concert at the Villa Marina, organised by the Halle Orchestra, in conjunction with the Isle of Man Arts Council.
The children, together with their teachers, have been taking part in the Isle of Man Music Service’s Soundstart programme since September.
This initiative involves all the children in Years 5 and 6 having weekly lessons on a Brass, Woodwind or Percussion instrument, either individually or as part of a wind band.
The concert with The Halle was the children’s first public performance and following on from this success they are busy preparing for their end of year concert, and wondering how to top performing with The Halle.
