Improved online access to therapies services

Friday, 2 June 2017

Detailed information on how to access some of the Island’s most commonly used therapy services is now available on an improved section of the Government’s website. It creates a ‘one-stop shop’, making information more readily available to patients.

The Department of Health and Social Care provides a broad range of therapy support, with the new webpages focussing on: physiotherapy, occupational therapy and dietetics.

And patients can now access information specific to their needs within each area.

Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability, and the new pages provide information relating to both inpatient and outpatient services along with the details of the community adult therapy service and children’s therapy services.

Patients requiring information about occupational therapy  which enables people to complete tasks related to daily living through education, modifying their environment or rehabilitation – can find information on inpatient and outpatient services, community adult therapy service and children’s therapy services. In addition, it features contact details for support in relation to mental health problems plus older persons’ mental health and memory service occupational therapy.

Dietetics can be used for patients referred for advice on a range of issues including diabetes, weight management, heart disease, eating disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, allergies and kidney disease. And the dietetics page offers details about the service provided by the Island’s team of six dieticians who, along with a nutrition nurse, operate Island-wide.

Ruth Cooil, Physiotherapy Manager at Noble’s Hospital, said:

‘The team is really pleased with the improved pages, which now provide a 'one-stop shop' for patients to find lots of information on how to access the range of services available.

‘It’s been designed as a place for people to get the details they need quickly, in order to manage their conditions a little better.’

The refreshed webpages can be found at on our Therapy pages.
