Full steam ahead for the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre

Tuesday, 24 January 2017

The Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre Complex (Villa Gaiety) has announced new acts for 2017 with an enhanced programme of music, comedy and events planned for the year ahead.

Laurence Skelly MHK, Minister for the Department of Economic Development, commented:

‘The Villa Gaiety plays an important role in supporting the economy while providing an outlet for the Island to showcase its heritage, cultural identity and arts. Its benefits for the Isle of Man also extend beyond local entertainment, hosting important conferences, award ceremonies and large private functions throughout the year.

‘In 2016 there was an 88% increase in conferences being run at the Villa Marina and this trend looks to continue this year with 50 bookings for private and corporate events already in the calendar. The Villa Gaiety is also gearing up for an exciting programme of entertainment, with singer Aled Jones and comedian Joel Dommett among the acts now confirmed and added to the programme for 2017.

‘I have been encouraged by the engagement of the staff and many suggestions have been made to develop the Villa Gaiety to its full potential. This year we will look to reposition the Villa Marina as the home of live music and entertainment on the Isle of Man. We are introducing regular Promenade Suite Sessions, featuring named bands and local musicians as well as seeing the return of the hugely popular Comedy Club in collaboration with Off The Kerb Productions. It’s set to be a great programme of events, offering a wide range of opportunities for local residents and visitors alike.’
