Theatre, opera, music and dance featuring some of the world’s leading directors and most famous performers will be screened live to local audiences this winter.
The Studio Theatre – part of Ballakermeen High School – has announced the latest programme of performances it will show on a giant screen as they are simultaneously performed before live audiences in London. See video.

‘Live screenings offer local audiences the chance to see some of the biggest, boldest and most innovative professional productions currently being staged – without leaving the Island.
‘Thanks to well positioned cameras and the latest technology, the screenings offer all the tension and drama of being at the performances.
‘They are a great way to enjoy live culture without going to the expense of traveling away, purchasing tickets and staying in hotels.’

Wednesday 11 January |
‘The Tempest’ from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford upon Avon, starring Simon Russell Beale as Prospero and directed by Royal Shakespeare Company artistic director Gregory Doran. ‘On a distant island, a man waits. Robbed of his power and wealth, his enemies have left him in isolation. But this is no ordinary man and this no ordinary island. In a unique partnership with Intel, we use ground-breaking technology to create a world that pushes the technical boundaries of theatre.’ |

Tuesday 31 January |
‘Il Trovatore’ from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. ‘Fire and snow in the landscape echo the cruelty and love of the story: soldiers and gypsies clash, a mother reveals a terrible secret and two men are engaged in a deadly fight for one woman. The famous Anvil Chorus is just one of the highlights of Verdi’s exceptionally fine music, which captures the shifting emotions of the drama through impassioned love duets, fiery solos and stirring choruses.’ |

Thursday 2 February |
‘Amadeus’ from the National Theatre, starring Lucian Msamati (Luther, Game of Thrones) as Salieri. ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young prodigy, arrives in Vienna, the music capital of the world. Seized by obsessive jealousy, court composer Antonia Salieri begins a war with Mozart, with music and, ultimately, with God.’ |

Wednesday 8 February |
‘Woolf Works’ by the Royal Ballet from the Royal Opera House. ‘Acclaimed British composer Max Richter creates a specially commissioned score incorporating electronic and live music. Woolf Works expresses the heart of an artistic life driven to discover a freer, uniquely modern realism, and brings to life Woolf’s world of granite and rainbow.’ |

Thursday 16 February |
‘Saint Joan’ from the Donmar Warehouse starring Gemma Arterton. ‘Arterton is Joan of Arc in Bernard Shaw’s classic play, following the life and trial of a young country girl who declares a bloody mission to drive the English from France. As one of the first Protestants and nationalists, she threatens the very fabric of the feudal society and the Catholic Church across Europe.’ |
