The Island’s sporting success will be further boosted with the availability of additional funds for coaching.
Isle of Man Sport’s initiative – being launched this month – forms part of its coaching development programme, which began in 2015.
Trevor Christian, Sports Coaching Co-ordinator, said:
‘The Isle of Man Strategy for Sport highlights the importance skilled coaching plays in developing athletes at all levels.
‘Many sports’ governing bodies already utilise funding from Isle of Man Sport to grow and upskill their coaches.
‘Though this initiative, we will support sports, via their governing bodies, helping them to create their own coaching development strategies.
‘Sports will be considered for funding if they present structured plans linked to their aspirations, so the money can be best targeted.
‘Sports will ultimately have ownership and accountability for their plans and be empowered to deliver them.’
Trevor will hold a presentation for interested governing bodies at the Sport Institute’s Tower Insurance Suite on Thursday 23 February at 7pm.

Isle of Man Sport is an independent forum for the promotion and development of sport and recreation. It provides advice and expertise to the Isle of Man Government on sports and recreation.
As well as supporting coaching, it gives sports grants to develop facilities and purchase equipment.
