Innovative sports coaching event heads northAn innovative event that brings sports coaches together is heading north.

Rant and Rave Breakfast Club meets at Ramsey Rugby Club in Mooragh Park on Saturday 23rd September, from 8am to 9.30am.

The free event was held for the first time at the NSC in July and forms part of Isle of Man Sport’s Coaches’ Forum, which supports coaches in developing their craft.

Trevor Christian, Sports Coaching Co-ordinator, said:

‘After the success of the first Rant and Rave Breakfast Club, we have decided to run more in different locations.

‘Coaches are busy with their sports on a Saturday – hence the breakfast format. Hopefully it will be a motivational start to the day.

‘Representatives from all sports are welcome to enjoy breakfast while putting the world of coaching to rights with a good old rant and rave,’ Trevor said.

‘Topics are decided by the coaches attending. As we coaches love a good natter, it was unsurprising that we only got through two topics at the first breakfast: the factors behind the impressive number of young people engaging in club sport and young people specialising in a specific sport early in life.

‘As with all Coaches’ Forum initiatives, the breakfasts are aimed at supporting coaches for the benefit of sport in the Isle of Man.’

Coaches who would like to attend the Ramsey breakfast should email Trevor.Christian@gov.im or ring 01624 688590.

Coaches can also find out more information via the Isle of Man Sport Coaches’ Forum group on facebook.

Isle of Man Sport is an independent forum for the promotion and development of sport and recreation. It advises the Isle of Man Government on sport and recreation.

As well as supporting coaching, it gives sports grants to develop facilities and purchase equipment.
