Isle of Man Post Office to introduce service enhancement trials to parcel delivery service during festive period

From Monday 21st November to Saturday 14th January inclusive Isle of Man Post Office will be introducing some service enhancement trials to its parcel delivery services in certain areas of the Island with the aim of increasing customer satisfaction for first time parcel delivery. All of the changes will be optional to customers.

The service enhancements are being trialled as a result of recent customer research findings which established that customers wanted more convenient access to its postal services and wider delivery options. The improvements will differ in each of the selected areas and include alternate parcel delivery arrangements enabling customers to collect parcels at their convenience, parcel delivery notifications by SMS, acceptance of MiCard as a form of ID, online tracking of notice left parcels (IM1-4 only) and extended opening hours.

Post offices and delivery offices taking part in the trials include:

  • Port St Mary Post Office
  • Ballasalla Post Office
  • Port Erin Post Office
  • Southern Delivery Office
  • Northern Delivery Office
  • Pulrose Post Office
  • Douglas Sorting Office/Postal Headquarters
  • Peel Post Office

Unfortunately due to limited space, we have agreed with Castletown Post Office that customers will be unable to collect a parcel from there during the trial period and instead parcels will be made available for collection at the Southern Delivery Office where hours will be extended over the festive period. If this is not convenient, customers can continue to use alternative services such as Redelivery on a day suitable to them. They can arrange this online or by telephoning us, alternatively they can sign up for the Post Office’s Safe Place service which means items can be left in a secure place as instructed by the customer when the postman delivers a package and they are not home. Commenting on the parcel trials, Isle of Man Post Office Commercial and Operations Director, Lisa Duckworth, project lead, said:

“Isle of Man Post Office’s focus is always on improving customer convenience and access to services across our network of post offices and delivery offices. Following some recent customer research we conducted earlier this year the findings showed customers wanted increased access and flexibility to postal services and parcel deliveries. As a result we will shortly begin trialling some service enhancements and extended opening hours at a selection of post offices and delivery offices across the Island which we will carefully monitor the uptake of, and effectiveness of following the trial period with the possibility of these being rolled out throughout our offices in 2017.”

Isle of Man Post Office is committed to meeting the needs and convenience of customers in providing the type of service which best suits them and their busy lives, and it will closely monitor the customer feedback from this trial.
