Changes to shop at Noble’s Hospital

Wednesday, 2 November 2016

The shop at Noble’s Hospital will be closed on 5, 6 and 7 November for refitting and stocking of key essential products before reopening as ‘Thie Bee Shop’ on Tuesday 8 November, aligning the operation with the hospital’s popular café.

The change follows the announcement in August that the Department was unable to secure an organisation to run the retail spaces in the main foyer of Noble’s Hospital, following an open tender exercise.

Staff working at the shop for the current proprietor will transfer to the Department and will continue to work their shifts, giving continuity of service as well as helping to ensure a smooth transition. When the shop reopens, its hours will be: Monday to Friday 8.00am to 7.00pm and Saturday and Sunday 9.00am to 5.00pm. The trolley service to the hospital’s wards will also continue.

The Department apologises for any inconvenience caused over the period of closure, which is unavoidable, and appreciates the public’s understanding.  Vending machines are available on the mezzanine level of the hospital’s main foyer.

The operation of the shop by the Department is a temporary solution. A review of the options available for the retail spaces at Noble’s Hospital is being undertaken, and a notice regarding the provision of retail services in the hospital’s atrium will be published later this week.
