The independent public inquiry into aspects of the Isle of Man’s parole system will resume next week.
Proceedings will get under way at 10am on Tuesday 12 April 2016 in the Lecture Theatre at Homefield, Woodbourne Road, Douglas and continue until Monday 18 April if required.
Experienced former advocate Geoff Karran MBE TH is heading the inquiry, which was established by the Council of Ministers following approval by Tynwald in July 2015.
The initial phase of the inquiry, which was held in December 2015, received evidence on the practices and procedures of the parole system.
The second part will focus on the circumstances surrounding the release from prison on parole of Donovan Kitching.
Kitching was convicted of causing the death by dangerous driving of Ms Gwen Valentine in 2014 and sentenced to 10 years and 72 days in custody. Kitching had been released from prison on parole for a previous offence three weeks before the fatal incident near Tholt-y-Will.
