Sudan and South Sudan

The Treasury advises that the European Union has adopted a new Council Regulation (EU) No 2015/735 that repeals and replaces previous Regulation (EU) No 748/2014.

The new Regulation combines the provisions of the previous Regulation with those of UN Security Council Resolution 2206 of 2015, which provides for restrictions on certain persons responsible for, complicit in, or having engaged in, directly or indirectly, actions or policies that threaten the peace, security or stability of South Sudan.

Whilst the new Regulation has not been applied as part of Island law to date, the Treasury advises that the persons designated for the purpose of the new Regulation are the same two persons already designated for the purposes of Regulation 748/2014, namely –
