Neil Parsons struck gold for the Isle of Man at the recent World Police and Fire Games in America.

The retained firefighter from Laxey Fire Station claimed five golds, two silvers and one bronze medal in the clay pigeon shooting competitions to continue his remarkable run of success.

Neil, who funded his own trip to compete in Fairfax, Virginia, has now won a total of 36 medals in three appearances at the international event.

The World Police and Fire Games attracts world-class athletes from around the world who work in the emergency services.

A regular competitor for the Isle of Man in the Commonwealth Games and NatWest Island Games, Neil shot against a number of experienced opponents, including American State Champions and shooters hoping to represent Italy at the next Olympics.

Chief Fire Officer Kevin Groom said:

‘Neil is not only a highly regarded sportsman, he is a tremendous ambassador for the Fire and Rescue Service and the Isle of Man in general. He is proud of his home nation and never misses an opportunity to promote the Island while competing on the international stage. Neil’s haul of medals from the Games in America highlights his dedication to his sport and demonstrates the depth of talent we have here in the Isle of Man.’
