The Manx flag was flown from the UK Ministry of Justice headquarters in London on Monday to mark the Isle of Man’s Tynwald Day celebrations.
The Ministry of Justice manages the UK Government’s constitutional relationship with the Crown Dependencies and has been instrumental in helping to promote a better understanding of the Isle of Man among MPs and UK civil servants.
Justice Minister Lord Faulks said:
‘I am delighted to celebrate Tynwald Day alongside the Isle of Man. The UK Government takes its constitutional relationship with the Crown Dependencies very seriously and in flying the Manx flag, the Ministry of Justice is pleased to recognise the historic ties between the UK and the Isle of Man.’
Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK added:
‘This is a welcome gesture and we are pleased it will become an annual event. The Isle of Man has a positive working relationship with the UK Government and greatly values the support provided by the Ministry of Justice. Tynwald Day is a celebration of national pride and also helps to raise awareness of the oldest continuous parliament in the world.’
