Nativity scene draws visitors to hospital

Wednesday, 23 December 2015

A nativity tableau at Noble’s Hospital is drawing admiring visitors of all ages this festive season.

The nativity scene was donated to the hospital by St Mary’s RC Church, Douglas.

This year it has undergone repairs and refurbishment by hospital staff, volunteering in their own time, and the group Men in Sheds, which has made a new crib.

Barbara Scott, Director of Operations, said:

‘Parents are popping in just to show their children the tableau. It’s so popular we have had to rope it off.

‘We have received a huge number of positive comments from patients, staff and the public who love the tableau and the memories it evokes for them.

‘Ensuring children feel comfortable in a hospital environment before they may need to use our services is a good thing.

‘The tableau enhances our links with the community.’

There is still time to visit the hospital to see the tableau, which has pride of place near the atrium.

The display will be dismantled on Monday 4 January.

‘We would like to thank our staff and Men in Sheds for their hard work and creativity in making our tableau so enjoyable. It has become a focal point in the hospital this festive season,’ said Mrs Scott.
