Export Controls - European Union Sanctions against Russia

The Export Control (Russia, Crimea and Sevastopol Sanctions) (Amendment) Order 2015 (Application) Order 2015 comes into operation with effect from 1 January 2016.

The Order applies in Island law the Export Control (Russia, Crimea and Sevastopol Sanctions) (Amendment) Order 2015 (“the applied Order”), making further amendments to the Export Control (Russia, Crimea and Sevastopol Sanctions) Order 2014, as it has effect in the Island, which is concerned with the enforcement of trade restrictions against Russia.

The amendments made by the applied Order are concerned with controls relating to the sale, supply, transfer, export, import or transportation of –

  • Hydrazine
  • Unsymmetrical dimethyl hydrazine
  • Monomethyl hydrazine

which are used in the space and satellite industries.  These substances are subject to export control.

Prior authorisation is required from the Treasury for the provision of financing, or technical or financial assistance for the above, and the applied Order includes offences and penalties for failure to comply with its requirements.
