Mr John Cherry has been awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Certificate of Merit at a ceremony at Government House.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Certificate of Merit is awarded to outstanding Cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers who have been selected for their commitment and dedication to the Cadet Forces in the Island.
John is a Civilian Instructor with 440 (1st Manx) Squadron, Air Training Corps after originally joining the ATC as a cadet in 1978.
Despite having a disability, John has completed 30 years’ service with this Squadron and the Certificate of Merit is recognition for the work he has done to support all aspects of the Squadron training programme, camps and adventure training.
John is also very involved with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, representing the Squadron as a member of the Duke of Edinburgh Committee.
