Lesley Sleight will be heading to Estonia after being selected by Archery GB for the World Archery European 3D Championships. The Euro Nations competition starts on Monday, 15 September and runs until Saturday, 20 September.
After competing in three selection shoots and exceeding the score requirements, the P.E. teacher from Queen Elizabeth II High School is one of six archers chosen to represent Great Britain.
Lesley, a member of Bowderyn Vannin and Isle of Man Archery Club, has been competing for 12 years. She has represented England three times and her greatest achievement was in 2009 when she just missed out on the bronze medal in the IFAA European Field Championships.
Lesley said
'I feel very proud to be representing my country and being able to wear a GB shirt. It has taken many years but finally it is a dream come true. I run an archery club at school and teach archery in games lessons. I hope that being selected for the Great Britain Team will inspire my students and hopefully raise their sporting ambitions'.
